The praise reflects Cruise’s well-known commitment to preserving the theatrical moviegoing experience. Although he and Nolan have never worked together, both filmmakers have consistently encouraged audiences to experience major films on the biggest screens possible.

The Odyssey adapts Homer’s legendary Greek epic and stars Matt Damon as Odysseus, the king of Ithaca, whose perilous journey home after the Trojan War forms one of literature’s greatest adventures. The film also features Anne Hathaway as Penelope, Tom Holland as Telemachus, alongside Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Jon Bernthal, Elliot Page, Charlize Theron, Travis Scott, and several other high-profile actors.

Universal Pictures has also promoted the production as the first feature film shot entirely with IMAX 70mm film cameras, making it a landmark technical achievement.
