Netflix has another action hit on its hands. Just days after debuting on June 19, Husbands in Action has quickly become one of the platform’s most-watched non-English films, earning a spot near the top of Netflix’s weekly global rankings.
The South Korean action-comedy has resonated with audiences thanks to its fast-paced blend of action, comedy, and buddy-cop dynamics. Directed by Park Gyu-tae, the film follows an unusual partnership between a detective and his ex-wife’s new husband after she is abducted by a criminal organization.
Forced to put their rivalry aside, the unlikely duo embarks on a dangerous rescue mission packed with explosive action and comedic moments. The film’s strong streaming debut further highlights Netflix’s continued success with international action titles.
Husbands in Action climbs Netflix’s global charts
According to Netflix’s latest Global Top 10 rankings for the week of June 15–21, Husbands in Action debuted at No. 2 among non-English movies with 5.7 million views and 13.8 million hours watched. It trails only Colors of Evil: Black while outperforming several other international releases, including Bhooth Bangla, The Marked Woman, Colors of Evil: Red, Daddy’s in Trouble, Manitou’s Canoe, Maa Behen, Kafir: The Spirit Gate, and Dhurandhar: The Revenge (Raw & Undekha).
The movie has also proven particularly popular in Asia, reaching the No. 1 position in both South Korea and Thailand shortly after its release. That early momentum suggests the film could continue climbing Netflix’s rankings over the coming weeks as word of mouth spreads.
Directed by Park Gyu-tae, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Kim Jong-hyun, Husbands in Action features a cast led by Jin Seon-kyu, Gong Myung, Kim Ji-seok, Yoon Kyung-ho, Kang Han-na, Lee Da-hee, Jeon So-min, Oh Eun-seo, and Lim Yoona.

The premise centers on two men connected by the same woman. After a kidnapping turns their lives upside down, the detective and his ex-wife’s current husband reluctantly join forces to rescue her. Their conflicting personalities create plenty of comedic tension while the story delivers car chases, shootouts, and increasingly over-the-top rescue sequences.
The combination of action and humor has become a familiar formula in Korean cinema, and Husbands in Action leans into that style with energetic pacing and large-scale set pieces.
Although the film currently has only a handful of critic reviews, its early reception has been encouraging. On Rotten Tomatoes, all three published reviews are positive, though there are not yet enough reviews for an official Tomatometer score.
