Chris Hansen has shared his reaction to Robert Pattinson’s portrayal of him in A24’s upcoming film Primetime, offering a mixed but largely positive assessment of the actor’s performance. Based on the trailer, Hansen believes Pattinson has clearly studied him closely, even if the final portrayal appears more dramatic than real life.

“Obviously he has practiced imitating me, and while I think it’s overly dramatic, I think there is a pretty good imitation there in the trailer.”
He added that his family has been even more impressed, saying they believe Pattinson’s performance is a convincing imitation.
Hansen Says Primetime Is Still a Fictionalized Story
Despite praising Pattinson’s imitation, Hansen stressed that the film should not be viewed as a completely accurate depiction of him or his work.
“He’s saying things I never said and doing things I never did, and that’s not who I am,”
Hansen explained, reminding viewers that Primetime is
“a work of fiction, only based on real-life events.”
Hansen was not involved in the production and has previously criticized the circumstances surrounding his attempt to see the film before its release. The movie is inspired by his years hosting To Catch a Predator, with Pattinson portraying a fictionalized version of the television journalist.
Hansen has also purchased advertising space before Primetime screenings to promote his own streaming network, TruBlu. While he remains critical of parts of the project, his latest comments suggest that Pattinson’s performance itself has earned his respect.
