Spider-Man: Brand New Day has achieved another historic box office milestone by becoming the second highest-grossing movie ever at the domestic box office. The Tom Holland-led Marvel and Sony blockbuster has officially surpassed Avengers: Endgame, proving that Spider-Man remains one of the most powerful franchises in modern cinema.
The film has earned $858.4 million in North America, moving ahead of Avengers: Endgame’s $858.3 million domestic total. The only movie still above it on the all-time domestic chart is Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which holds the top position with $936.6 million.
The achievement adds another record to the film’s impressive theatrical performance since its July 31 release.
Tom Holland’s Spider-Man Film Continues Breaking Box Office Records
Spider-Man: Brand New Day has quickly become one of the biggest theatrical successes in history. Before overtaking Avengers: Endgame, the movie surpassed Spider-Man: No Way Home to enter the top three highest-grossing domestic films of all time.
The film also became the fastest movie ever to cross $800 million domestically, reaching the milestone in only 19 days. Globally, the superhero sequel has earned approximately $2.22 billion, placing it among the highest-grossing films worldwide.
The movie currently ranks sixth on the global box office list and has already surpassed Star Wars: The Force Awakens internationally. It is also closing in on Titanic, which sits ahead with $2.26 billion worldwide.
Starring Tom Holland, Zendaya, Sadie Sink and Jon Bernthal, the film has continued attracting audiences weeks after release. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, Brand New Day also recorded the biggest domestic opening weekend ever with $360 million.

Spider-Man Success Challenges Superhero Fatigue Concerns
The success of Spider-Man: Brand New Day comes during discussions about whether audiences are losing interest in superhero movies. Several recent comic book releases have struggled commercially, leading to questions about the future of the genre.
However, Sony Pictures chairman Tom Rothman believes audiences are still willing to support superhero films when they deliver a major theatrical experience.
Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Rothman explained that viewers are looking for quality rather than simply recognizable franchises.
“The press talks a lot about that, but right now, on anything, the theatrical audience demands greatness,”
Rothman said.
“If it’s only OK, they can stay home and see ‘only OK’ all day long on television. If we’re going to ask them make a trip out of it, it’s got to be great.”
Beyond its franchise achievements, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has contributed significantly to the overall strength of the 2026 box office. According to Rentrak data cited by The Hollywood Reporter, domestic ticket sales for the year crossed $7 billion, outperforming the previous year’s numbers.
The film’s success also highlights Spider-Man’s continued importance to Marvel and Sony’s cinematic plans. With its record-breaking domestic performance and massive worldwide earnings, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has secured its place among the biggest movie releases ever.
