Spider-Man: Brand New Day has set another major box office record, becoming the fastest movie ever to surpass $700 million at the domestic box office. The Sony and Marvel Studios blockbuster reached $704.5 million in North America on Wednesday, less than two weeks after opening in theaters on July 31.
The milestone adds to an already remarkable theatrical run for Tom Holland’s fourth solo Spider-Man film. It has also emerged as Sony’s biggest international release, with $1.108 billion earned overseas, moving past Spider-Man: No Way Home and its $1.106 billion international total.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, Brand New Day stars Holland alongside Zendaya, Sadie Sink and Jon Bernthal. Marvel’s official synopsis describes Peter Parker as a hero living alone after the events of No Way Home, with a mysterious new threat pushing him toward a dangerous transformation.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day Continues Breaking Box Office Records
The film’s $700 million domestic milestone puts it at No. 6 on the all-time North American box office chart, ahead of Black Panther. Its next target is Top Gun: Maverick, which finished its domestic run at roughly $718 million.
Brand New Day has also become the second-fastest movie ever to reach $1 billion worldwide, doing so just six days after its release, trailing only Avengers: Endgame.
Its opening was equally historic. The film earned $360 million domestically during its first weekend, surpassing Avengers: Endgame for the biggest domestic opening weekend ever. Its momentum has helped push the 2026 summer box office beyond $4 billion, marking only the second post-pandemic summer to reach that level after 2023.
Sony Pictures chairman Tom Rothman previously praised the theatrical resurgence, telling The Hollywood Reporter that the success shows audiences are still eager to experience major films in theaters. “Actually, the theatrical marketplace is booming right now, and I’m excited about it,” Rothman said.
With its third weekend approaching, Spider-Man: Brand New Day still has a chance to challenge several major box office records as its theatrical run continues.
