Robert Pattinson has praised Steven Soderbergh for stepping in to help complete filming on The Batman Part II, describing the director’s decision as a generous gesture toward filmmaker Matt Reeves. The production continues with Soderbergh assisting on set in London while Reeves remains involved in shaping the DC sequel.
In an interview with GamesRadar, Pattinson expressed his appreciation for Soderbergh’s willingness to support Reeves during a difficult period. “It’s incredibly generous of him – and he’s doing it in the loveliest way. It’s completely selfless,” the actor said.
Soderbergh agreed to help with the London production after Reeves had to step away from on-set duties because of a personal family matter in Los Angeles. Reeves has emphasized that he is not leaving the project and will continue overseeing the film.
Matt Reeves Will Remain in Charge of the DC Sequel
Soderbergh’s involvement does not mean Reeves has been replaced as the film’s director. Reeves confirmed on social media that he remains committed to the project and expressed gratitude for the assistance during his family matter.
“Just to be clear, I am not leaving The Batman Part II,” Reeves wrote, adding that he was “profoundly grateful to Steven” for helping him complete principal photography. DC Studios has also backed the arrangement, with both filmmakers working together to preserve Reeves’ creative vision.
Soderbergh has similarly emphasized that his role is to support the existing production rather than reshape it. He praised Reeves’ work on the first The Batman, describing it as “intentional, specific, and rigorously coherent.” His stated goal is to capture footage that fits seamlessly with the material already filmed, allowing Reeves to finish the movie in post-production.
Pattinson also confirmed that filming had resumed and said he expected to return to the set within days of his interview with GamesRadar. The sequel stars Pattinson as Bruce Wayne and features new additions to the franchise, including Scarlett Johansson and Sebastian Stan.
The Batman Part II is currently scheduled to arrive in theaters on February 18, 2028. While the production adjustment has drawn attention, Pattinson’s comments suggest the cast remains confident that the film can be completed while maintaining Reeves’ original vision.
