Julianne Moore is set to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2026 Rome Film Fest, adding another major international honor to a career spanning more than three decades. The festival confirmed the news on October 1, with Moore scheduled to receive the award during the screening of The Debut, her latest film directed by Jesse Eisenberg.

The 21st edition of the Rome Film Fest will take place from October 13 to 25, 2026, at the Auditorium Parco della Musica Ennio Morricone. According to the Fondazione Cinema per Roma official announcement, the decision was announced by foundation president Salvatore Nastasi following a recommendation from artistic director Paola Malanga.

The recognition arrives as Moore prepares to present The Debut, which is part of the festival’s Grand Public selection.

Jesse Eisenberg Will Present Moore With the Honor

Eisenberg, who directed, wrote, produced and stars in The Debut, will personally present Moore with the Lifetime Achievement Award during the festival. The film stars Moore alongside Paul Giamatti, Halle Bailey, Jesse Eisenberg, Cara Buono and Bernadette Peters, according to the festival’s official 2026 program.

In The Debut, Moore plays a New Jersey housewife who unexpectedly becomes involved in a local theater production. Her character finds herself working under a demanding theater director portrayed by Giamatti.

The Rome Film Fest honor therefore comes at a notable point in Moore’s career, as the actress continues to take on a wide range of dramatic and unconventional roles.

Moore’s career includes an Academy Award for 2014’s Still Alice, for which she also won the Golden Globe and BAFTA. She has also received an Emmy for her performance as Sarah Palin in Game Change. The Rome Film Fest highlighted her work in films including Boogie Nights, The Hours, Far From Heaven and The Kids Are All Right.

Julianne Moore appears at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival during her latest international film festival appearances.

Her festival history is particularly notable. Moore has won major acting honors at Venice, Berlin and Cannes, making her the only American woman to achieve top acting prizes at all three of those major European festivals.

Her filmography also includes collaborations with acclaimed filmmakers such as Robert Altman, Paul Thomas Anderson, Todd Haynes and Pedro Almodóvar. More recently, she starred in Haynes’ May December and Almodóvar’s The Room Next Door.

Rome Film Fest 2026 Continues Its Major Tributes

Moore is one of several prominent cinema figures receiving recognition at this year’s festival. Spanish Oscar winner Javier Bardem will also receive a Lifetime Achievement Award during the 2026 edition, with his honor being presented by filmmaker Paolo Sorrentino.

Meanwhile, British producer Tessa Ross will receive the festival’s Industry Lifetime Achievement Award.

For Moore, the ceremony will combine a celebration of her extensive film career with the Rome presentation of The Debut, giving audiences an opportunity to see the Oscar winner in one of her newest performances.
