The third annual “I’m Just Me: A Charley Pride Celebration of Inclusion” returned as a key highlight of ACM Awards Week 2026, bringing together artists, executives, and cultural voices who are actively shaping a more inclusive future for country music. Hosted by Amazon MGM Studios in partnership with Amazon Music and the Academy of Country Music, the event took place on May 16 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Named in honor of trailblazing country legend Charley Pride, the celebration continues to serve as a platform that recognizes individuals whose work reflects his lasting impact. Pride remains one of the most important figures in country music history, having broken racial barriers to become the first Black artist to achieve a No. 1 country record and one of the genre’s most celebrated performers.

A diverse group of honorees takes center stage

The 2026 edition spotlighted a wide range of contributors across the country music ecosystem. Among the honorees were the Compton Cowboys, whose work blends equestrian culture with community outreach, and Latin-country artist MŌRIAH, who also delivered a featured performance during the event.

The list also included Joseph Hudak, deputy editor and head of country at Rolling Stone, along with Beverly Keel, a respected music journalist and academic leader. From the industry side, Warner Music Nashville executives James Marsh and Stephanie Davenport were recognized for their contributions. Together, the honorees represent the growing diversity within country music, both on stage and behind the scenes.

The event was hosted by country music journalist Marcus K. Dowling, adding a layer of industry insight to the proceedings. Attendees also participated in a curated portrait studio experience, reinforcing the event’s focus on storytelling and representation.

Honoring Charley Pride’s enduring influence

At its core, the celebration remains rooted in the legacy of Charley Pride, whose career reshaped the boundaries of country music. Despite facing racial discrimination throughout his journey, Pride rose to become a global star, earning multiple Grammy Awards and industry honors.

He also made history within the Academy of Country Music, becoming the first artist to win back-to-back Male Vocalist of the Year awards. His success opened doors for future generations of artists, and his influence continues to be reflected in initiatives that prioritize inclusivity across the genre.

Since its launch, the “I’m Just Me” event has consistently honored artists and cultural leaders who carry forward that mission. Previous honorees have included prominent names like Lionel Richie and Mickey Guyton, further reinforcing the event’s significance within the industry.

The inclusion brunch forms part of the larger ACM Awards Week celebrations, leading into the 61st Academy of Country Music Awards. This year’s ceremony, hosted by Shania Twain, is scheduled to stream live on Prime Video from Las Vegas on May 17, 2026.

In addition to the main awards show, Amazon Music is set to host the official red-carpet livestream, giving fans expanded access to the event. Together, these initiatives highlight the evolving direction of country music while continuing to emphasize representation and inclusivity.
