Netflix’s Wednesday Season 3 has reportedly encountered a minor production setback after actress Eva Green sustained a leg injury while filming the upcoming season in Ireland. According to a report by The Sun, the actress was taken to hospital for treatment following an accident on set, prompting producers to temporarily adjust the filming schedule.
Neither Netflix nor Green has publicly commented on the reported incident. However, the report claims the actress is recovering well, with production continuing after the brief interruption.
Green is making her Wednesday debut as Aunt Ophelia, a mysterious new member of the Addams Family whose arrival was teased during the Season 2 finale. Her casting has been one of the biggest additions to the show’s third season, which is currently filming in County Wicklow, Ireland.
Report says filming paused after Eva Green’s injury
According to The Sun, the incident occurred during production near Dublin earlier this month. Crew members reportedly called medical staff immediately after Green suffered a leg injury.
A source told the publication:
“This was really nasty. Eva sustained an injury and was clearly in pain and producers were taking no chances.”
The source added:
“Medics were called and Eva went to hospital. She underwent treatment and is now recovering well.”
The report says filming was reorganized while Green received treatment, allowing the production to continue without a lengthy shutdown. No official update has suggested that the accident will delay the release of Season 3.
Green’s role as Aunt Ophelia, Morticia Addams’ estranged sister, was officially announced by Netflix in late 2025. The character was first teased at the end of Season 2 when a mysterious woman appeared writing the ominous message “Wednesday must die”, before Wednesday later discovered Ophelia’s journal and began experiencing unsettling psychic visions.
Speaking about joining the series after her casting was announced, Green shared her enthusiasm for becoming part of the Addams Family universe.
“I can’t wait to bring my own touch of cuckoo-ness to the Addams Family. This show is such a deliciously dark and witty world.”
She joins returning stars Jenna Ortega, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, and Isaac Ordonez, while acclaimed filmmaker Tim Burton continues directing several episodes of the series.
Wednesday continues to be one of Netflix’s biggest originals
Since debuting in 2022, Wednesday has become one of Netflix’s most successful original series. According to Netflix Tudum’s Top 10 rankings, the first season became the platform’s most-watched English-language TV series before later being surpassed by newer releases. Globally, it remains one of Netflix’s highest-performing scripted shows alongside Squid Game.
The series has steadily expanded in scale, with production moving from Romania to Ireland beginning with Season 2. The relocation made Wednesday one of the largest television productions ever filmed in the country, bringing a substantial investment to Ireland’s film industry.
Industry reports have also suggested that each episode carries a production budget of around £15 million, reflecting the show’s elaborate production design, visual effects, and internationally recognized cast.
