Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield has apologized for his emotional sideline moments featured in Netflix’s NFL documentary series Quarterback Season 3. The series captured several heated reactions from Mayfield during the 2025 NFL season, including moments where his frustration and competitive intensity were clearly on display.
Mayfield addressed the scenes during a recent training camp press conference, explaining that while his emotions reflect his passion for football, he regretted that some of the language could be seen by younger audiences.

Speaking about his appearance in the Netflix documentary, Mayfield admitted he did not watch the entire season but reviewed clips before approving their inclusion.
He said:
“Apologies to the families with little kiddos because the language on there is actually not very suited for them. Might be a little angry elf on the field every once in a while, so that’s probably the part that I do regret a little bit.”
Mayfield explained that his intense reactions come from his competitive mindset rather than negativity toward teammates.
“You can say what you want in the media, you can say I’m cocky and whatever, but it’s all ball. I love my teammates, I love this game, and I love playing it.”
Netflix’s Quarterback Season 3 follows Mayfield alongside other NFL quarterbacks, documenting their performances, personal lives, and challenges throughout the season.
One featured moment came during a 2025 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers, when Buccaneers cornerback Kindle Vildor intercepted a pass but fell short of scoring. Cameras captured Mayfield shouting a frustrated response from the sideline.
The documentary also highlighted other emotional moments, including his celebration after a touchdown against the Carolina Panthers, where he passionately credited his team’s effort.
The Buccaneers finished the 2025 season with an 8-9 record, missing the playoffs and ending their three-year run of winning the NFC South division. Mayfield will now enter the 2026 season looking to lead Tampa Bay back into postseason contention.
