Action Man is officially heading to the big screen, with Hasbro Entertainment and Working Title developing a new live-action movie based on the classic British action figure franchise. The project is described as a “deeply British” adventure comedy that will celebrate the style of classic action films.
The upcoming movie is still in early development, with no director, cast, or release date announced yet. However, the creative team behind the project includes several experienced Hollywood names.
According to Hasbro, the Action Man film will be written by Simon Hatt and Anthony Sellitti. Hatt previously worked as an executive producer on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, while Sellitti contributed to the animated series X-Men ’97.
The film will be produced by Jeremy Latcham, a former Marvel Studios executive known for producing projects including Avengers: Age of Ultron, Spider-Man: Homecoming, and Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves.
First introduced in the UK in 1966, Action Man was originally created as a British counterpart to Hasbro’s G.I. Joe. Over time, the character evolved from a military-themed figure into a spy and adventure hero, gaining enemies such as Doctor X.
The franchise previously expanded into animated projects and video games but has remained mostly inactive in recent years. The upcoming movie marks Hasbro’s attempt to revive Action Man for a modern audience.
